CREATING WORK-LIFE BALANCE AS RELATED TO MENTAL HEALTH
Mental Health has to do with One's emotional well-being, especially with reference to one's outlook on life, ability to cope with stress, or the absence of a mental disorder. Seeing the busyness of our today’s society, it is important we take our health seriously especially our mental health.
The Place of God can’t be replaced in our lives as believers but at the same time, it’s not to say we should neglect our part in ensuring that we have a good balance in all that we do. It is vital to have motivation in life, what is your motivation in life? What are those things that keep you going even when the road is rough? As individuals, we should have a personal well we draw our motivations from.
Mental disorder in the community is most times underestimated which isn’t supposed because the state of one's mental health plays a big role in one's productivity and relations to life in general. Mental challenges represent a huge lacuna in one's life and should be placed at a great checkpoint.
Some of the causes and triggers of work-related stress can be related to Long Hours at Work, Heavy Workload, Job Insecurity, and Poor Salary, Conflicts with Co-workers and Bosses. You should ensure to break down your schedules at work to enable you to tackle them one at a time, so as to avoid spending unnecessary long hours at work.
Also as believers, we are commanded to be at peace with all men including our colleagues and boss. If you feel you are not secured at your workplace then take it to God in prayers and be sure God is always ready to go in action for His children. Rather than relying on Substances like (Tramadol, Codeine, Alcohol, e.t.c) to feel well, you should rely on God to give you the best relief from the stress you are going through.
Once you have the Holy Spirit, He will help you ease your work performance rather than Reduce work performance. As believers, Jesus Christ has taken away Depression from us and has given us His peace that passes all understanding.
Anxiety and fear of the unknown He has replaced with an assurance that He will be with you always even till the end of time. Even if you are having Sleeping difficulty (insomnia). His words have guaranteed us to give us good sleep.
After looking through these, some of the things we need to improve and enhance one's work-life: While the Bible reckons that bodily Exercise profits but a little, with the busy schedule of many, we should engage in at least 30 minutes of exercise each day to ease stress and unwind. We should also ensure we eat healthily and watch our diet, where possible have routine massage therapy and yoga.
The Bible also talked about Meditation, this is a wonderful relaxation technique and we are encouraged to apply it to our daily life. During holidays we should consider traveling and sightseeing. Going to places we haven’t been before and just relaxing as much as we can.

- Depression
- Insomnia
- Eating disorder
- Anxiety disorder
- Weight loss
- High blood pressure.
Please do not keep anything to yourself when going through this phase, open to someone. To be happy or sad is your choice, choose happiness as it is suggested by doctors and helps in making one feel lighter.
